The assignment for this project was to use guerrilla marketing to help solve an issue or bring to light a problem. The challenge was to also design for use in a public space. I decided to focus on the issue of leaving kids and dogs in cars during hot summer days, which leads to heat stroke and possibly death. What better way to solve this problem than comparing it to frying ants with a magnifying glass?
Using Sketch Up, a 3D rendering software I created an over-sized magnifying glass, and from there applied different viewpoints and angles of the model to mock up these photos. But I also needed to apply some form of graphics to the car to make the intention more apparent. So I produced warning labels and statistic graphics to relay information on the car, which would be applied with vinyl wrap.
To expand the project even further by creating a billboard, It occurred to me that a lot of places might not allow a giant magnifying glass and dummy car to be placed in their parking lot so I thought an alternative means to relay the message was needed.
